“I have been attending the club now for some years after returning to martial arts after a 20 year break. I have practiced wado ryu in the past but not like this.

The teachings are based on traditional aspects combined with real world applications based on current crime data. There is room for discussion and questions which help to understand all aspects more clearly.

Gradings are not paced at regular intervals to keep people interested but taken when the student is ready.

The black belt grading is the most thorough and tough I have seen but not for status but because it hopes to gives students the widest and best base for the future. Remember black belt is not the end goal just the starting point of another stage of the journey.

I know understand kata and bunkai in a way I have never been taught in the past.

It is after all that a friendly and supportive club with a sensei who cares not just about his students but the future if the art.”
